Rich is one of five children and lives in Essex, CT with his wife, Karen and daughters Emily and Avery. He has served on the Corporate Roundtable for the University of Connecticut and Board of Advisors for the University of Hartford. He has served as a board member with the Connecticut Waterfowl Trust. He also makes time for his love of fishing. Rich has been active in several Chamber of Commerces and in 2012 he established and still chairs the Old Saybrook Chamber of Commerce Ambassador committee.
Richard has been in the Financial Services Industry since 1988. He started his career as a marketing representative with The John Hancock in Meriden, CT. After three years, Richard was promoted to Sales Manager. He managed a staff of seventeen agents, and then grew his staff to twenty-seven agents over the next several years. He left John Hancock to help establish Paragon Financial Group, which later became Tarlov Financial Group. Richard held the position of Director of Marketing for several years, before moving back into his planning practice.
Richard is a past president and past state director of the New Haven Life Underwriters Association. He has earned his Life Underwriters Training Council Fellowship, as well as his Agency Management Training Council certificate. He is a Registered Representative and Investment Adviser Representative with Cetera Advisor Networks LLC Member FINRA/SIPC, and holds life, accident, health, and variable products licenses with the State of CT.
